There were a couple great matchups this past weekend between the New York Sirens and Toronto Sceptres on Saturday followed up by the Boston Fleet and Minnesota Frost on Sunday. Let’s dive in and then take a look at the standings.

The weekend kicked off in Toronto as they took on the New York Sirens with Toronto looking to get back into the win column after a loss to Boston on Wednesday. Just over 19,000 fans showed up to cheer their teams on, what a great turnout! Hannah Miller continues to lead the way with a huge 2 goal game for the Sceptres, she scored the first to make it 1-0 and her second made it 2-1 later in the second period. Sarah Nurse also scored the game winning goal for the home team as the Sceptres took down the Sirens. With those 2 goals Hannah Miller now leads the team in goals with 6 and points with 9. She’s got 4 points in the last 3 games for the Sceptres and they move within one point of the Boston Fleet in the battle for last place currently. MVP watch for Hannah Miller part one with part two coming on Sunday (Schofield)?
On Sunday we had a tilt between the Boston Fleet and Minnesota Frost. While Boston battles to stay out of last place, the Frost are tied with Montreal with 23 points sharing first place in the league. After the final buzzer the Frost certainly showed why that is. With a 5-2 victory the Frost get back into the win column after 3 straight losses, the captain leading the way with a dominant 3 point performance. Kendall Coyne Schofield dished out 2 assists while scoring the 5th and final goal. That puts her in sole possession of first place for points and in a 3 way tie for goals with 6. Are we watching the next MVP award winner here?

Hilary Knight had a goal and an assist for a multi point night over on the Fleet but it just wasn’t enough to stave off the defending Walter Cup Champions.
After these weekend games, the Montreal Victoire share first place with the Frost, but have a stronger strength of schedule so far regarding their wins. Ottawa comes in at 3rd with 17 points leading the logjam that is 3rd through 6th place, with the Sirens in 4th (16 points) and the Fleet and Sceptres down at the bottom (15 and 14 points). The Sceptres had a strong showing though on Saturday and I think we may see them move close to Ottawa. Ottawa is currently down 3-0 to the Sirens as I write this with only a few minutes left in the third period. Things are heating up, don’t miss any more!
